About Our 3D Printing
Store and Services

In February 2013  President Obama  said that 3D printing has the potential to revolutionize the way we make almost everything and I was so persuaded by his vision that two months later I opened the world’s first 3d printing store and it has been quite an adventure since then to be in at the start of the 4th Industrial Revolution!

Our store is situated in Rathmines Dublin in a large open plan space with overlooking the high street with printers in the windows making prototypes and models in front of bemused passers-by.  Our first printers in 2013 were three wooden Ultimaker originals which we built ourselves and spray painted  turquoise blue.  Since those early days we’ve added many printers to our collection and now have over fifteen in our store.

We purchased the first Formlabs Form1 in Ireland from someone at a Formlabs Pitch event at 3D Print UK in Oct 2013.  He obtained it through the original Kick-starter project. It never worked properly!   In those early days we also picked up the US MakerBot printers including the Replicator and the  Digitizer scanner. We’re also fans of the Italian Sharebot printers and collected some of those.

Then we got interested in the Chinese printers and acquired the Up Box and Up Box Mini.     When the Ultimaker 2 was released we purchased the first in Ireland and then two more. We also acquired some  Creality FDM Printers and two Elegoo Mars resin printers.

My colleague Leo Tilson  works alongside me and he’s the brains behind the operation. He makes each printer function like a Rolls Royce engine and is a Master CAD Designer.

After a lot of initial hype 3D printing has moved forward with more realistic expectations for the future and more affordable printers than ever before.  Our mission is to provide an affordable 3D printing service for local businesses, students and makers.
